Wemply's break settings have received an update! All settings related to breaks can be found by going to Configure > Settings > Work Break Settings
By clicking on the desired configuration method below, a more detailed guide will open:
Selectable
Selectable
The most commonly used break logic due to its user-friendliness.
This configuration is used when logging work times with a timer and when filling out the work schedule (in the absence of the planned work time module).
Break duration in the absence of manual selection
A required field where the configured break duration will be deducted.
From work times added via the reader
Breaks apply to work times logged using a time clock or similar device.
From automatically logged work times
Breaks apply to auto-generated work times.
When filling out the work schedule (with actual work hours)
Breaks apply when entering actual hours into the schedule.
Default break duration / Other selectable break durations
A default value is always pre-filled. If other break durations are also configured, they can be selected as well.
Earliest/Latest possible break start time
A time range or limitation for when breaks can be applied.
The break is only counted if at least X minutes have been worked
The break will not be applied unless the minimum configured number of minutes has been worked.
An example setup to demonstrate how breaks can be configured.
The same configuration is visible when selecting the break duration with the timer.
In the timesheet, if no manual selection is made, the configured break duration is deducted from the working time
When stopping the timer.
When stopping the timer.
The most standard solution – there’s no configuration needed here. The employee starts the timer and stops it when going on a break.
Assuming the employee doesn’t have permission to edit their own work time (only to log it using the timer), they also can’t manually add the break duration.
Based on time worked throughout the day
Based on time worked throughout the day
If at least x minutes have been worked during the calendar day, the predefined break duration will be deducted from the total worked time.
Break configuration
Two side-by-side examples in the working hours table – One work entry is below the break application threshold, the other is above. The configured break duration is deducted from the total worked time.
Based on planned working hours
Based on planned working hours
The break duration comes from the planned working time configuration.
In order for the system to match the planned time with the actual (logged) working time, the object must match. This means that both the planned and actual work entries must have the same object assigned when saved.
Example – The planned working time is 08:00–16:30 with a break duration of 45 minutes.
When adding working time, no break duration was selected, but the corresponding object was added.
Upon saving, the break duration configured in the planned working time is automatically deducted.
