Compensating Overtime with Time Off

You can allow employees to take time off instead of monetary compensation for overtime. Here's how to set it up:


1. Enable the Overtime Module

Go to:
Configure -> Settings -> Features
→ Turn on “Transfer of overtime”


2. Create a New Absence Type

Go to:
Track -> Vacations and Absences -> Types
→ Add a new type (e.g., "Time Off for Overtime")

✔ Check the option "Set the balance according to the accrued overtime"


3. Set Overtime Balance Start

Go to:
Track -> Working Times -> Overtimes

→ For each employee, set their overtime balance to 0 as of a certain date.
From that date forward, Wemply will track their overtime.

Conversion formula:
8 hours of overtime = 1 day off


4. Submitting a Time Off Request

Employees can now create a leave request using the type
"Time Off for Overtime"

→ Each day requested reduces their overtime by 8 hours


Notes:

  • Overtime is recalculated nightly (not in real time).
    → New balances appear in the Overtime table the next day

  • If you want to limit this option to specific employees,
    go to: Configure -> Setting -> General Settings
    → Select employees this applies to
